Yo, Baby!

This is baby Henry. He was born just two weeks ago to my sweet friend, Sara. Henry arrived the way most little ones do these days when something is amiss. Much to Sara's dismay, he made his long awaited debut by C-section. Despite Sara's dangerous high blood pressure, baby boy came safely into the world. Giving birth is miraculous, especially when so many things can go wrong and sometimes do. Each tiny life is precious, a gift from the Lord. Thankfully, both Sara and baby Henry are doing well, getting to know each other, and falling into the rhythm of a new life together.

I think this picture says it all. Henry's a tough little guy! Though he arrived a bit beat up, the doctor extracting him with something akin to a suction cup, he's here. His life, perfectly ordained by the heavenly Father, is just beginning and with a little attitude. There's a Divine plan for this little guy and we're looking forward to watching God's purposes unfold for him and his beautiful Momma. Their future is full of hope because of the kindness, mercy, and great love of the Savior. If Henry could talk, he might say, "Yo, baby! I'm here and I'm ready to make my mark on the world!" You go, baby boy!

An Extraordinary Life

Corrie Ten Boom lived an extraordinary life - a life filled with deep love, a life of great forgiveness, a life lived in the shadow of one of the greatest human tragedies in recent history. She lived through the horrors of the Holocaust and lost her family to the hellish conditions of German concentration camps. Her life could have been filled with bitterness and hatred. Instead, her story is filled with
hope and trust, forgiveness and compassion.

When worry and anxiety tempt me to despair and the uncertainties of life seem to press in, I think about the life of this extraordinary little woman and how she changed the lives of countless people with her testimony. Her simple faith in God and her understanding of His character is contained in one of my favorite quotes. I think of it often. I live my life in the midst of everyday mundane moments but each moment, each decision, each intentional conversation, each opportunity is an invitation to shine a light in the dark hopelessness of the world and live an extraordinary life.
